报告人简介:
张昕,1988-1991年获北京大学物理学专业学士学位;1992-1998年获美国约翰斯·霍普金斯大学生物学专业博士学位;1999-2003年于美国哈佛大学医学院从事博士后工作。曾于2003-2009年任印第安纳大学医学院医学和分子遗传学系助理教授,2009年至今任印第安纳大学医学院医学和分子遗传学系副教授,2011年至今担任PLoS ONE杂志的编委。
张昕教授主要致力于研究眼睛发育过程中的细胞信号传导机制。他已经使用了遗传学的方法来剖析某些信号转导通路,这些信号转导通路不仅在胚胎发育中是必不可少的,它们的功能对于先天性综合症和癌症生物学有重要作用。该项研究的长期目标是结合小鼠遗传学与生物化学的方法,以确定细胞内信号转导在眼睛的发育和动态平衡中是如何接收以及传达的。其具体的途径是研究硫酸乙酰肝素的修饰是如何调控配体在细胞外基质的扩散和稳定性以及其受体和配体在细胞表面的相互作用,以及在胞内划定导致下游通路的确切的信号级联反应。在视觉研究中,生长因子,如成纤维细胞生长因子已被示出促进视网膜神经元的存活,有潜力成为视网膜损伤的治疗剂。希望细胞间信号的研究成果最终能进入到临床应用领域用以保护人类的视力。
